Testing Standards

Drop Testing

TC subjects products to a vigorous multi-drop test from 3 feet in height, as well as other durability testing in our internal labs. We are also able to perform drop testing per customer requirements

Light Testing

TC has in-house accelerated aging capabilities to test for degradation of film and ink fade due to light exposure to multiple ASTM standards and also customizes testing to the specific needs of customer applications.

Additional Testing

TC Transcontinental Packaging's ASTRA Center is equipped with multiple labs, each with their own testing capabilities that are used throughout the product development process to ensure products perform in customers' applications. The Analytical and Testing Services Lab performs gas permeation, seal strength, chemical identification, aging and shelf-life studies, environmental storage, stiffness and filled package trials, package prototyping, transportation and abuse testing, and more. Our Applications and Packaging Development Lab includes its own 9-layer blown film pilot line and FFS equipment used to make prototypes in the development process and ensure performance and efficiency on the customer's line.

Additionally, our Recycling Technology Lab features equipment that allows TC to take film through the recycling process which aids in the development of recycled content films and our Advanced Compost Lab, which is independently audited (ISO 17025) and equipped to test and meet ASTM D6400 and D6868, gives TC an advantage in the development of compostable flexible packaging products.

Lastly, our R&D team is equipped with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) software that provides a comprehensive overview of a product's environmental impact. This allows us to confirm and quantify the impact that moving to a new, sustainable solution will have compared to a customer's current packaging.
